The worlds crappiest truck. Yuck! Good thing it's only got 8,000 on it cuz by the time it hits 13,000 it will need new ball joints, new air vent door motors, and probably a transmission too.

That's the same 5.9L Magnum V8 that was featured in the Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ 1998 Limited which was the fastest SUV in the world at that time. I have the 5.2L 318 magnum V8 (which was basically the carbon copy of the 5.9, with some minor tweaks) in my ZJ and it's still a blast to drive. The torque is insane coming from a 28yr old Jeep. I love it, best engine ever made.

The s10 extreme I have was just over 24k new. Mine isn't nearly as clean as that dodge but it's a rust free florida truck . The bed is as nice as your dodge it's the best looking part of the truck. I also have an 04 dodge dakota crew cab mint condition I'll agree the dodges are hard to find it took a long time to find mine everything I looked at was a rust bucket shined up with a premium price. I can't believe that guy purchased that truck never drove it and I'm assuming sold it at a big loss. That truck probably books out at something like 8k now and he paid 21 what a bone head.

I have a 98 RT and a 94 Sport with the 5.2. I run 275/50 17 tires on the RT. Even they are hard or impossible to get now. I worked for Dodge as a tech from 1992 - 1998. The 1993 sport with a 5.2 was the fastest of the bone stock Dakotas. In 1994 they reduced the size of the exhaust manifolds and started rating the hp at the flywheel. I still remember doing pre delivery inspections on the new 93 models. At 45 they would light up when you crammed down on them ;-) One customer kept coming back complaining he couldn't keep the azz end on the ground and engine surging. The surging wound up being the rev limiter kicking in at 6500. :-0

I had a 99 Dakota R/T back in 99-2001, right before I started getting into 4 banger turbo cars, lol, thanks Fast and Furious. Loved the truck. Lowered, exhaust and a 150 shot of nitrous. I definitely upset some people in that truck, but those tuned, pullied Lightnings sure were a pain. Ahhhh, the late 90s early 2000s. There use to be a company back in the day that had a 5 speed conversion specifically for the R/T. Always thought that was bad ass. Enjoy it in good health!

My Grandfather had a 1999 Dakota R/T. It was a really sweet ride, Had a custom 6 Speed transmission, Custom Rims and Tires, And a ton of Engine modifications. Sadly, In November 2011, It was wrecked by some drunk driver at midnight. It really fucking pisses me off to remember it, The Dakota R/T is NOT Common, And his was so well treated, It was sad to let it go. Seeing this video made me happy, To see another R/T owner all happy with their awesome truck. Keep that lil' truck safe.

The Dakota has never been a “mini truck”... the Dakota has always been mid sized... that was always its big selling point, it was bigger than the S-10, Ranger and all of the Japanese competition, but smaller than the full sized trucks. Even the first gen Colorado is smaller than the Dakota, and you could get a 5.3 LS derived V8 in those... I’m not knocking the Dakota, my dad had a 1990 he bought new and it had almost 400k miles on it when he “traded” it during cash for clunkers (and no, I’ll never forgive him for that, lol) and this is absolutely a gorgeous R/T Dakota... but it’s not a mini truck.

Nice Truck.. I have a 99 RT ... body off Resto done.. now we are finishing the engine.. Stroked 5.9 to 408 CI...computer modeling on the build Suggests 625 HP with 550 FT LBS of torque... Everything in the engine has been heavily modified to ...Heads flow over 310 CFM NHRA SS heads .. We also went with an LD 340 Single plane intake and port matched it.. Yes I know the LD. is for an LA Engine.. we had to re drill out the bolt holes and use Epoxy to make them fit right... Everything is trick... 3 years in the making...Hopefully I don't blow it up...gonna set the rev limiter to 6500 RPM .. cheers... I did the same with my bow flex...lol

My brother in law had a 99 Durango with the 5.9 and only 80k miles. I told him that if he was going to get a new truck not to trade it in because I would buy it from him. Well he traded it in anyway and they gave him peanuts for it. He bought it from the original owner for only $2400 too. The body and interior were almost just as perfect like this Dakota R/T. Now he wishes he never traded it in lol.
