HOOVIE.... this was very ELVIS of YOU

I'm no "wizard" but it sounded almost like the ignition timing is way off. The starting issue and the way it idled.
Dr. Vinnie Boombatz19 päeva tagasi
Is that hood-holding wooden pole standard equipment on a Corvette like that or do you have to buy that separately?
chickenjo2322 päeva tagasi
Crossfire's are not hard to work on. Fix vacuum leaks intake gaskets, balance tbi's, iacs and turn up the fuel pressure on the driver tbi. Most are set at 9psi from the factory and that's not enough pressure to run correctly as they age. I adjust them to 12psi and makes a massive difference on quick start, idle and throttle response. I made my own manometer for 5 bucks to balance my tbi's.

Let's look on the positive side. Hoovie did not spill all the small steel ball bearings into the intake.

I love videos like this. I can’t even say how much an old hooptie that’s not worth much at all can really change someone’s life for the better. I’ve had a rough couple years between a marriage, divorce and then Covid killing what was left of my business and it’s hard to just keep my transportation running and legal. I think having a relatively sorted old car would be great to be able to take my kids to car meets and the like and them getting to experience driving and fixing an old car and then enjoying when it works. For now though we walk around the and enjoy other peoples cars so we get half the experience anyway.

Gene Ebeling2 місяці tagasi
_And now you know why the first year C4 has a bad rep as a used pos. That said, the fourth generation lasted for 13 model years so the car ended up being a win for Chevrolet and the Corvette community. (Love my '96 Corvette convertible, six fourth gens later I might add). Tyler: you've certainly come a long way with your channel and your burger business, congrats!_

I have the 85 TPI version and i love it. It's a really fun car. We did 3000+ miles road trips in it with zero issues.

E-Rizzle McInerny2 місяці tagasi
I had an '82 and it was incredibly simple. Once you drilled out the PERMANENT factory covers over the adjustment screws, you just hook up a water manometer because everyone has one, then go to the auto parts store to buy a bent screwdriver, then once you get back home just turn the screws to adjust the water level in the meter. Simple! I sold it after a year....
Philo Beddoe2 місяці tagasi
Very nice gesture. Kind of a bummer that the moment was tarnished a bit by the car not starting. Probably oversold the Fridge too. "1 year old Samsung with french doors, wifi and temperature sense, $50". Guy was disappointed.
pauly repa2 місяці tagasi
Mate! Can u please give me a car? Im on the bones of my ass. But im a fitter. So i can fix anything. Im 52 n live left me behind a bit.(chics n kids) Id b so stoked if this dream came true. 😔 peace!

I had a 1984 vette and I could never get it to run right either
Quinn Jones2 місяці tagasi
OK, only 530,000 views, BUT I can honestly say this is the kind of video I love to see. I remember when the 1984 Vette came out, and a neighbor bought one...we would go over and drool on the hood. BUT he never drove it...and now we know why. Is it true you can ruin the motor by taking a long high G corner and running 1/2 of the motor dry of oil? Or kill the engine by the same means because the crossfire injection couldn't feed 1/2 the motor fuel? GOOD TIMES!!!!

Personally I think that’s an awesome gesture I have had Porsche 986 for several years but the wife kinda confiscated it as her daily driver lol but I then got to buy a 94 C4 Corvette just love the style and is now my daily driver and I think this guy will love that and he seems to like to tinker so good for him. Thanks for the video.

“You’ve been caught up in the - CROSSFIYAH!!! Crossfiyah!” Like if you remember what I’m babbling about. 😉 Edit: That man didn’t seem very excited about his new Corvette. In fact, he seemed rather disappointed it wasn’t a refrigerator and he obviously loves that unlovely old truck much more than he does his new Vette. 🤔
ro G3 місяці tagasi
Hoovie, veteran here! Next give away I’d love to be a lucky recipient of a car. I’m in need one of one! Love your videos buddy

If I didn't live in California. I can't bring any car home that isn't already registered in California or the neighbors will use code harassment. I wish I could get a C4 that I could daily for that low (Well whatever it would cost to bring that C4 up to passing smog, which would be more than $2k for sure).

It's so funny how the older ecms only see so much. Working on OBD 1 is like working on a boiler. It's all about the KISS method. I love old cars and trucks!

You're a solid guy, Hoovie. You're paying it forward in spades. Thanks for giving back to the community, and caring for thy neighbor (although your literal neighbors probably don't enjoy all the cars clogging up the cul-de-sac!). Keep it up, brotha!
JBM4253 місяці tagasi
I remember the car magazines such as Motor Trend going crazy over the 1984 Corvette. It represented a major redesign of the Corvette, and it was totally cool. I would love to have that one as a weekend car.
